Trejo's Alternative Spirits for Gin and Tequila

My Take –

Danny Trejo has expanded from his restaurant “Trejo’s Tacos” into the spirit world with “Trejo’s Spirits”

He has a line of hot honeys, and hot sauces, as well as zero proof Gin and Tequila.

His shop website states that the flavor of the Tequila Alternative is “citrus and roasted agave” with a peppery finish. I’m really interested in trying this and seeing if it evokes a taste of mezcal with the roasted agave.

The Gin Alternative is described as having a “complex aroma of red berries, red peppercorns and subtle cucumber notes” with a juniper finish. I’d want to see how strong the juniper is, since a lot of people don’t like an overwhelming juniper gin. Sounds like it might be good with lime though! (a gimlet)

From the Trejo shop website:

As many of you know, I’ve been sober for 50 plus years. Going out with a group of friends I would usually drink a steaming hot coffee or seltzer water whilst the rest of the group ordered fancier cocktails. I wanted to create a line of non alcoholic spirits so that everyone could participate in the cocktail ritual.

The unique Zero Proof Tequila Alternative has been crafted to capture the essence of a Tequila with flavors that are distinct and complex and make the perfect Agave based cocktails like Margaritas, Bloody Marias and Palomas.

This non-alcoholic Zero Proof Gin Alternative delights your senses with a complex aroma of red berries, red peppercorns and subtle cucumber notes. while the finish showcases the defining touch of juniper making it a true gin-inspired treat.
